Choosing our Attitude

” No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit “.

Helen Keller (1880 – 1968)

Helen KellerI don’t believe I was ever a pessimist and quite frankly, people who are pessimistic irritate me to no end.

I look at people who are wealthier, thinner, married, with children, more intelligent, etc. and all I can see is “that is their path.” I have my own lessons and it is up to me to live my life.

But if I spend my time begrudging what others have or looking at the grass seemingly being greener, I would never be able to witness my lessons. To waste my time and energy with a pessimistic attitude would be pointless.

What Helen Keller has indicated, no one can see the possibilities or conquer the world living in a negative environment, whether it is in their head or in their home.

If  it is not possible to spend time in a positive environment, take the time to change it, one step at a time. Get a better job, whether it’s closer to home, more fun or better pay. If your relationships aren’t what you want them to be, take the time to fix them or move on.

If you are not fulfilled, take the time out to pinpoint what is lacking in your life and then carve out a plan to make the changes so you can live the life your are entitled to live.

It’s your life, your terms.
