Self Respect

“The individual woman is required . . . a thousand times a day to choose either to accept her appointed role and thereby rescue her good disposition out of the wreckage of her self-respect, or else follow an independent line of behavior and rescue her self-respect out of the wreckage of her good disposition.”

– Jeannette Rankin

(June 11, 1880 – May 18, 1973)

reformer and first woman elected to the U.S. Congress

Is it possible to have it all? Can women have a career, family, goals, self respect and be loved? I believe so. I truly believe that all the women from our pasts have created a world for us in which we can have it all.

We no long have to be subservient to anyone or anything. When we find anyone trying to tell us otherwise, we should run in the opposite direction as fast as we can.  Otherwise it is an insult to all the women who have worked so hard to ensure our right to choose what we allow in our lives.

I hope you honor what all these women have gone through. I hope you honor yourself enough to live your life to the fullest. You must find ways of making your life count. Create a legacy to leave in this world so you will leave your mark and know your life has made a difference.
